Brew Vote: What To Brew?

What should I brew next? A nice Porter or an IPA?

I want both on tap (soon), but can only brew once this weekend.

The MaiBock is just about ready. I'll check on it's condition this weekend.

Down here in Texas, it's already too hot for porters, so I'd go for the IPA. But maybe there's still a chill in the air up there.

I convinced myself to go with a porter, this week. It's nice to have around, and my "red wine friends" will drink it.

I do want to get two IPAs going soon, though. One "session" IPA and also an Imperial "punch in the teeth" IPA. Those and a Kolsch and Pilsner, round-off the edges of a hot Summer.

Yea IPA here too. We just brewed up an ESB this weekend and I looked through the post I wrote last year (around the same time). I made the changes you suggested and I'm fired up about this brew.

Thanks!

I'm glad you convinced yourself to go with the porter. I think we've still got some good porter nights left in the spring.

Porter is a good idea, I like IPAs, but aren't they getting to be a bit cliche?

That would be a good name for an IPA.

Cliche P.A.

Another "b-r-y-o-n" Bryon out there? It's to late to vote, but I say go for the porter! It's never too hot for a porter... sometimes you're just at too low an elevation!

How about something new and inventive? Let your creative juices flow...

Maybe a TOMB Ale... Toasted Oatmeal Molasses Brown.... Back before Bison Brewery in Berkeley went Corporate, they made some incredibley interesting and inventive beers. TOMB ale was one of them and it was a great brew...

Cheers!

Dr Wort,

I brew "new, experimental and inventive" brews most of the time; that's the joy of being a veteran homebrewer. But it's nice to have some standard "session" beers around, also.

PS:
I get out to Berkely on business a lot, and I remember some of those Bison brews, (prior to 2003). I also enjoyed hanging-out at the Jupiter and seeing what they had on tap from the area.
